Ingredients
Method
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- First things first. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures the brownies cook evenly.
Step 2: Prepare Your Baking Dish
- Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish with a bit of coconut oil or line it with parchment paper for easy removal later.
Step 3: Melt the Chocolate and Coconut Oil
- In a heatproof bowl, combine your chopped chocolate and coconut oil. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) or microwave in 15-second intervals until everything is smooth and melted. Stir until completely combined.
Step 4: Mix in the Sugar and Eggs
- Once melted, remove the bowl from the heat. Let it sit for a minute to cool slightly. Then, stir in the granulated sugar until well incorporated. Next, add your eggs one at a time, mixing well between each addition.
Step 5: Add Dry Ingredients
- Now, sift in the cocoa powder and arrowroot powder. If you're using almond flour, add it here too. Mix gently but thoroughly until no dry bits are left.
Step 6: Pour into the Baking Dish
- Transfer your brownie batter into the prepared baking dish. Smooth the top with a spatula.
Step 7: Bake
- Place the dish in your preheated oven and bake for around 20-25 minutes. The brownies are done when the edges are set but the center still appears slightly soft. Remember, they'll firm up as they cool.
Step 8: Cool and Cut
- After baking, let the brownies cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Timing Matters: Don't overbake. The brownies should be fudgy in the center.
- Use Quality Chocolate: The better the chocolate, the better the flavor.
- Experiment with Flavors: Add a pinch of sea salt on top before baking for a nice contrast.
- Try Nutty Additions: Chopped walnuts or pecans add great texture and flavor.
- Don’t Skip Cooling: Letting your brownies cool completely will aid in proper cutting and give a better texture.
